NEW YORK, Sep 21, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- The London theater group, Lost Musicals, is continuing its tradition of no-frills authentic productions with the musical "Fifty Million Frenchmen."
The New York Times reported that the new production, which is playing at New York's Florence Gould Hall, follows in the organization's traditions regarding offering shows in their original, complete versions without any distracting major choreography.
The group's current stage revival of the 1929 Cole Porter musical reduces the popular show to its essence by eliminating the enhanced orchestrations typically associated with it down to a simple musical accompaniment by pianist Mark Mitchell, the Times said.
Actors Edward Watts and Michelle K. Nicklas head the relatively unknown cast for the production which focuses on a rich American who attempts to hide his fortune from the woman he is romancing while in Paris.
The Times said that the recently begun production which follows in the footsteps of Lost Musicals' founder Ian Marshall Fisher is set to run at the New York locale until Oct. 8.
