MIDVALE — A woman who was found dead at a massage parlor Thursday was a victim of a "brutal and tragic homicide," Unified police said Friday.

Emergency crews initially responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance at the business located at 7444 S. State shortly after 8:30 p.m., where they learned someone might be injured. When they went inside the building, they found the person dead, Unified Police Sgt. Aymee Race said.

The woman's name was not released as police are still looking to contact her next of kin.

Unified police initially classified the case as a suspicious death before changing it to a homicide case on Friday. Police did not say how the woman died; however, they are asking for anyone who may have information about the incident to contact investigators at 801-840-4000.

Race also said Thursday that two people had been detained by police, but it wasn't clear if the people were arrested or being interviewed.
