ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- Government service has its advantages: a benefits package that usually includes free medical insurance.
The Spectrum of St. George reports that six communities in southern Utah -- Ivins, Washington City, Springdale, Hurricane, Santa Clara and Enterprise -- cover their employees' insurance in full.
So does the Washington County Water Conservancy District.
The subsidy ranges from $343 for single coverage for an Ivins worker to a high of $1,151 that Springdale pays every month for a family plan.
Ivins City Manager Judy Gubler says government employees typically give up better pay in the private sector for government's better benefits.
