PROVO, Utah (AP) -- A Provo father has been charged with aggravated murder in the death of his infant son, who died five months after suffering head injuries.

Utah County prosecutors charged Cameron Nielsen with 11 counts of child abuse and one count of attempted murder in June. They were prepared to accept a plea, but pulled the deal last month after learning the child had died in October.

The state medical examiner's autopsy report provided this week found the child died of inflicted head injuries.

Jason Nielsen was about six-weeks old when he was hospitalized in May. Doctors said abuse had left the baby boy blind.
