(KSL News) A man is dead tonight after being hit by two vehicles when he attempted to cross a main thoroughfare in Salt Lake City.

The man was crossing North Temple near 1800 West when he was hit by a hotel shuttle van. The force of the accident was so strong that the victim was tossed into the opposite lane and struck again by another vehicle.

Police tell us it's in a dark stretch of the road and neither driver saw the man. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are still working to identify the man, but they believe he was in his 50s. They say the man was not using a crosswalk when he was hit.
