The Ghana Football Association says former Chelsea and Newcastle forward Christian Atsu has been rescued from the rubble of a collapsed building following the powerful earthquake that struck Turkey and neighboring Syria on Monday. The GFA says Atsu is receiving treatment but didn't give details of any injuries. The Ghana international plays for Turkish club Hatayspor. His condition had been unconfirmed overnight. The Ghana FA posted an update on its official Twitter site on Tuesday saying: "We've received some positive news that Christian Atsu has been successfully rescued." Later Tuesday, second-division club Yeni Malatyaspor confirmed that goalkeeper Ahmet Eyup Turkaslan died following the earthquake. The death toll climbed above 7,700.
