DALLAS — Luka Doncic scored 31 points before leaving with a right heel injury, and the Dallas Mavericks held on without their All-Star for a 111-106 victory over New Orleans. The travel-weary Pelicans lost their 10th consecutive game. Dallas was up 27 when Doncic exited soon after taking a hard foul when the ball was knocked out of his hands on an attempted dunk. The Pelicans thought a chance to tie in the final seconds was taken away when officials made errors on an inbound play. Crew chief Kevin Scott acknowledged the errors after the game. New Orleans arrived on the day of the game because wintry weather in Dallas had the team stuck in Denver for two nights.
