WEST VALLEY CITY — Two people died following a collision with a box truck in West Valley City on Saturday afternoon, West Valley police said Sunday.
The two people, a man and a woman, were in a passenger car that crashed into the rear end of a box truck parked along the north side of Parkway Boulevard near 3200 West shortly before 3:23 p.m. Saturday, said Lt. Steve Beardshall with West Valley police.
West Valley police announced Monday that the two people who died were Bebs Tisha Lee Valencia, 32, and Myron Marcello Singer, 40. Police said investigators are looking at speed and alcohol as possible factors in the crash.
The driver of the box truck was inside the truck at the time but was not injured, Beardshall said. The box truck was parked legally along the north side of the road at the time of the crash, he added.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash, checking with area businesses to see if there were witnesses or camera footage of the fatal crash.
