CEDAR CITY — Multiple vehicles were damaged in a series of rear-end collisions on Interstate 15 in Iron County on Sunday afternoon as the Thanksgiving holiday weekend drew to a close.
Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Bambi Baie said all four crashes were reported within a two-hour period on a six-mile stretch of northbound I-15, between mile markers 82 and 88 in northern Iron County. Baie characterized the traffic at the time as being "very, very heavy," as it had been throughout most of the day.
Baie said the first crash happened just before 1 p.m. near mile marker 88. It was a rear-end collision involving two vehicles, she said.
"They pulled off, so it was not a traffic issue whatsoever," Baie said, adding that the driver in the rear vehicle was cited for following too closely.
