OGDEN — Ogden School District officials confirmed on Sunday that a woman shot and killed over the weekend was a teacher at Highland Junior High.
Jaycee Gray Trivino, an art teacher at the school, died after the shooting about 1 a.m. Saturday near 31st Street and Adams Avenue in Ogden.
Trivino was hit in the stomach by a bullet and transported to a hospital, where she died later Saturday.
"At this point, there's no evidence to suggest that it's anything other than accidental at this moment. But we're still doing our due diligence and investigating everything," Ogden Police Lt. Michael Rounkles said Saturday.
One person was with Trivino at the time of the shooting, Rounkles said. That person was cooperating with the investigation.
When asked whether the gunshot was self-inflicted, Rounkles said he did not have that information.
Correction: District officials originally identified the victim as Jaycee Gray Trevino. Her last name is actually Trivino.
