TATOOINE — For those who aren't aware, today is Star Wars Day.
If you look at the calendar and read the date just a little funky, you'll understand why — today is May the 4th. That's why you may hear some people say, "May the 4th be with you," today instead of a simple, "Hello."
To celebrate, Disney+ has given Star Wars faithful a treat for their "holiday." Fans have been asking to see more of Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi for a very long time, and that wait is almost over. Streaming on the service starting May 27th is the 6-part limited series "Obi-Wan Kenobi."
The official, full-length trailer was released today, on May the 4th.
The first teaser trailer gave us little info, but still got us excited as we saw McGregor don the robes of the Jedi master. But now we have more details on plot, lightsaber action, and an almost-look at Darth Vader.
According to the trailer, Vader still has a grudge against his old master and trainer and will stop at nothing to find him and kill him. Every low-life and bounty hunter in the galaxy has been dispatched to take care of Obi-Wan as he hides out on Tatooine, keeping an eye on a young Luke Skywalker. Will a Mandalorian or two make an appearance?
We also get a look at Joel Edgerton reprising his role as Uncle Owen, the man, who along with his wife, Beru, raised Luke.
It was also announced that Hayden Christensen would reprise his role as Lord Vader, but Disney is still keeping that one quiet. It's clear he's the force behind the manhunt, but other than a robotic arm and the voice box being attached to the familiar suit, that's all we get to see of one of the greatest villains of all time.
We do get to hear that unmistakable breath, however.
I can't imagine all of the Easter eggs and familiar faces that will pop up in this series, but thankfully we don't have to wait too long to find out. "Obi-Wan Kenobi" is slated to start streaming on Disney+ on May 27th.
Are you excited about the new series? Did the trailer make your May the 4th that much better? Let us know in the comments.
