SALT LAKE CITY — A woman was hit by a vehicle and killed in Salt Lake City late Sunday, police said.
About 9:53 p.m., Marilyn Alleman, 70, was crossing the road at 2400 S. Foothill Drive when a driver traveling south on Foothill Drive did not see her and struck her, said Salt Lake Police Lt. Tim Stumm said. Police originally said she was 69.
Alleman died on scene despite the efforts by bystanders and paramedics to revive her.
The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with officers, Stumm said.
Poor lighting likely played a role in the crash, according to Stumm. The road also sees high speeds as people either prepare to enter or exit the nearby Interstate 80, Stumm said.
This crash marks the seventh traffic-related fatality in Salt Lake City for 2022, police said.
A Salt Lake City Police Department chaplain responded to the scene to help Alleman's family after the crash.
