SALT LAKE CITY – On this, the day for all the twos, Utah had not just one, but – you guessed it – two babies born at 2:22.
KSL-TV reported on the first palindrome baby earlier Tuesday. The parent-proclaimed "Ute Fan" was born at 2:22 a.m. at Utah Valley Hospital to Allyson and Brandon Montague. The Montagues reported going in for a scheduled induction Monday night around 9:30 p.m., and labor began to progress around the 2:00 a.m. mark. As the time grew closer, Brandon Montague said the obstetrician said that they could "wait an extra couple minutes to start pushing to see if we could get the 2:22 time."
The couple gave birth to a 7 pound, 7 ounce, 20-inch-long healthy baby girl they named Claire Ivy.

A mere twelve hours (and 22 seconds) later, Megan and Landon Roberts, of Holladay, welcomed a daughter who they named Lennon Mae, weighing in at 8 pounds, and 19.5 inches long. Lennon Mae was born at Alta View Hospital in Sandy, and according to her mother, while the date was planned, the timing was not.
"I progressed fast at first and then things slowed down, but at 2:05 p.m., I was all of a sudden at 10 centimeters (dilation)," Megan Roberts recalled. "The nurses and doctors knew we could probably have her born at 2:22 p.m."
The timing worked out better than expected, because not only was Lennon Mae born at 2:22, but 22 seconds into that coveted minute, adding yet another set of twos.
"She came perfectly at 2:22, and later when the nurses checked back on the records, they saw that she was actually born at 2:22 p.m. and 22 seconds!" Megan Roberts said.
As for the mothers and babies, all are reported to be doing well.
