(KSL News) The Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office filed murder charges against Medel Isaac Tenangueno in connection with the death of Matthew Maxwell.

Maxwell was stabbed several times in the chest outside his apartment on 1602 W. Snow Queen Place on Nov. 30.

Police were called out at 12:55 a.m. Maxwell was taken to Intermountain Medical Center and later died from his injuries.

Police say a witness, who was at a party near the apartment, identified Tenangueno as the suspect.

If convicted, he faces 15 years to life in prison.
