OGDEN — Koby McEwen had 30 points, and Dillon Jones had a double-double with career-highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds as the Wildcats improved to 4-0 for the first time since the 2011-12 season after a 85-74 win over Ball State.
McEwen shot 11 of 19 from the field, knocking down five 3-pointers and had five rebounds. The former Wasatch Academy star scored 19 points in the second half.
Jones had his third double-double in four games this season. He tied his career-high with 18 points and 13 rebounds. He was 7 of 10 from the field and dished out four assists.
JJ Overton added 13 points with seven rebounds.
The Wildcats finished the game shooting 52 percent from the field and held Ball State to 41 percent shooting. WSU knocked down seven 3-pointers and outrebounded the Cardinals 37-32.
"It was a grind and wasn't very pretty, but we stayed together and showed a lot of toughness down the stretch," Weber State coach Randy Rahe said. "We got the stops we needed to and were able to get some shots to fall and got things going."
The Wildcats will finish the three game tournament at the Jersey Mike's Classic on Sunday, taking on Green Bay at 10 a.m. MT. The game will be streamed on Pluto TV.
