WEST VALLEY CITY — Police are investigating a shooting between two groups of teenagers that injured at least one person near 2500 S. Lake Park Circle, West Valley Police Lt. Sean McCarthy said.

Police responded to reports of shots fired and discovered shell casing and blood spots, McCarthy said.

Two groups of teenagers were then located by police. It is believed that one group stole a car, leading to an altercation between the two, according to McCarthy.

The two groups then "possibly exchanged gunfire with each other." McCarthy added that police believe "at least one person was hit as there was a few spots of blood on the sidewalk."

Police are following up with local hospitals, he added.

The incident is still under investigation.

The identities of those involved were not released.
