WEST JORDAN — A 5-month-old reported missing in an Amber Alert has been found and reunited with family late Friday morning, police said.

"The suspect was taken safely into custody without incident. We wish to thank the media and public for their assistance," West Jordan police announced on social media.

The infant, identified by police as Nora Nelson, was allegedly abducted at 8:17 p.m. Thursday, West Jordan city officials said on social media.

The woman who allegedly took her, Yorbalinda Vargas, had made some statements in the past that caused concern for the child safety, West Jordan Police Lt. Morgan Andrus said.

Vargas was allowed supervised visits with Nelson but drove away with the child during an unsupervised visit, according to police.
