CLEARFIELD — Clearfield police are offering a reward for information in a murder investigation.
Kelly Bodily was found shot to death in his Clearfield apartment, 352 N. Bruce Street, on Dec. 7. Police believe he was killed on Dec. 5 between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
A $5,000 reward is now being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the gunman.
Bodily's home was divided into two apartments. He lived in the upstairs unit and his neighbor downstairs. About 11 p.m. on Dec. 5, the neighbor had fallen asleep on his couch while watching a movie with his girlfriend, when the girlfriend "heard what she described as a commotion upstairs that sounded like a bang from either a cupboard or a door shutting," according to search warrant affidavit filed in 2nd District Court.
The woman then thought she heard Bodily yelling her boyfriend's name. The boyfriend woke up and "also heard a commotion upstairs."
"(The neighbor) stated that since that day he had not heard from Bodily and even sent him a text message on Dec. 6 asking him to dinner, but received no reply," the affidavit states.
On Dec. 7, the neighbor called 911 saying he discovered Bodily had passed away. Bodily was found lying on his back in his kitchen, with "both arms clenched near his midsection area holding a baseball bat," the warrant says.
Police determined Bodily's death was not the result of a suicide.
"We have confirmed that Kelly died of injuries sustained from bullets fired by a 9mm handgun. There was no evidence of a burglary or robbery. It is possible the suspect was familiar with the area and knew Kelly," Clearfield police said in a statement Wednesday.
