MAGNA — A man who was critically injured along with two others after a multivehicle crash on state Route 201 at the intersection of 7200 West on Monday afternoon has died, confirmed Utah Highway Patrol.
The man was identified as Chuck Brown, 35, of Bountiful.
About 1:03 p.m., a pickup truck was traveling north on 7200 West and struck multiple vehicles before entering state Route 201, the UHP said in a statement. The pickup truck then entered state Route 201 and ran a red light as a semitruck traveling west proceeded to travel through the intersection.
To avoid colliding with the pickup truck, the semitruck swerved to the right but still was struck by the pickup truck head-on, UHP troopers said. The collision caused the semitruck to hit a dump truck hauling a pup trailer head-on. The dump truck was stopped at a red light on 7200 West.
The two semitrucks caught on fire while the pickup truck proceeded to travel through the intersection where it collided with a Subaru that was also stopped at the red light, troopers said.
Brown was pulled from the semitruck and sustained severe burns and critical injuries. He died Wednesday. Brown leaves behind a wife and five boys, according to a GoFundMe set up for the family.
The identities of the two others injured were not released.
