CLEARFIELD — Clearfield police have arrested a man accused of inappropriately touching two women who were walking their dogs on separate occasions.
Bermino "Mino" Morka, 49, was booked into the Davis County Jail on Wednesday for investigation of two counts of sexual battery.
On Wednesday, a woman was walking her dog on a trail near 300 North and 1000 West when she was approached by Morka, who asked if he could pet her dog. When he was done petting the dog, Morka asked the woman for a hug, which the woman agreed to. But as they were separating, Morka groped the woman, according to a police booking affidavit.
"The male then asked the victim if she had a boyfriend, to which she stated she did and started walking away. The male then approached another female walking on the trail and this made the victim nervous for the other girl and anyone else this man might approach," the affidavit states.
An officer responding to the scene remembered a similar case on July 16. On that day, a woman was walking her dogs on Main Street in Clearfield when she was approached by a man who wanted to pet her dogs. As the man was crouching and petting the dogs, he moved toward the woman until she was backed up against a wall, and then rested his head in an inappropriate manner on her, according to the affidavit.
Using security cameras in the area, police were able to identify that man as Morka, the affidavit says. On Wednesday, as police responded to the second incident, they spotted Morka and arrested him in connection with both cases.
