SALT LAKE CITY β€” The Utah Jazz began the season with less than a couple thousand fans scattered across the lower bowl. They'll start the second round with just about every seat filled.

The team announced Thursday that Vivint Arena will be at full capacity for Game 1 of their second-round series beginning next week.

Some lower bowl rows will remain unavailable due to the NBA's required distance around the players bench area; but outside of that, Vivint Arena will feel like it did before March 11, 2020

The team is expecting more than 18,000 fans to be in attendance for Game 1 of the second-round series, and each home game moving forward. The team is even opening up additional space in standing-room-only sections. Vivint Arena has an official seating capacity of 18,306

The Jazz have slowly inched toward this moment. The season began with 1,500 fans and was incrementally increased as the year progressed.

Wednesday's series-clinching win over Memphis was attended by a season-high 14,250 fans.

With the capacity increase, Vivint Arena is no longer required to employ physical distancing between seats, but the arena's mask requirement will remain in place. All fans must wear masks when not actively eating or drinking.

The Jazz are still waiting to find out when they'll tipoff the second round. Utah will play the winner of the LA Clippers-Dallas Mavericks series (Dallas is currently up 3-2 in that series). If the Mavericks win Friday's Game 6, the Jazz could play Dallas in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals as early as 1:30 p.m. MT on Sunday at Vivint Arena.
