PRICE — A former high school teacher in Price has been accused of inappropriately touching a teenage student and trying to "groom" her.

Eric Erastus Snow, 46, was charged Wednesday in 7th District Court with forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony. Snow was an English teacher at Carbon High School. He had been a teacher in the Carbon School District since 2011 but resigned in April, the district confirmed.

In February, a 15-year-old girl was leaning over a desk while talking to a friend when Snow "whipped her buttocks with a Chromebook charger. When the victim turned around, the defendant looked at her with a grin, leaving her feeling violated and sick to her stomach," according to charging documents.

The incident happened after Snow had been "engaging in grooming behavior" with the girl for several months, including "complimenting the victim's outfits, playfully touching her with stacks of paper, telling her she must come see him or he would be bored, and running his fingers down and through the length of her hair," the charges state.

The school district did not have any other comment Wednesday outside of confirming that Snow had resigned.

His initial court appearance is scheduled for July 6.
