SALT LAKE CITY — For the first time in more than a year, fans of the University of Utah football program will get the opportunity to see the team play live in the stands of Rice-Eccles Stadium.
The university will allow a limited capacity of fans — 6,500 to be exact — to be in attendance for the Red-White game held on April 17 (12 p.m. MT, Pac-12 Networks). Tickets, which can be purchased starting Friday at 10 a.m., will be $10 per ticket or $22 for a bundle of four tickets. All ticket sales will go to the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship fund, according to the university.
The fund, which was established in January to honor the tragic passing of freshman running back Ty Jordan, will help establish a scholarship that will be awarded to a student-athlete in the football program "who exemplifies the inspiring qualities that Jordan displayed through his work ethic, positivity and perseverance through adversity."
Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham and his wife Jamie were the first to donate to the fund with a $100,000 gift in January.
Fans attending the game, which is a capstone to the 2021 spring camp, will also see the progress made on the South end zone renovations of Rice-Eccles Stadium. The renovation is expected to be completed by summer and ready for when Utah kicks off the 2021 season against Weber State on Thursday, Sept. 2.
Tickets to the event will be digitally distributed and there will be a "touch-free experience." Any fan with a ticket will be required to wear a mask at all times, maintain a distance from others and only sit in groups of the same household.
