LOGAN — Logan Fire Department responded to a fire at an apartment building in Logan around 6:20 p.m., according to Assistant Chief Craig Humphreys.
Humphreys said that firefighters responded to the fire alarm in a multi-family building and arrived in around 3 minutes. When firefighters arrived there was smoke and fire in a third-floor apartment, where an occupant got out on his own. Humphreys said that firefighters extinguished the fire after an aggressive attack, but the fire did extend into the attic above the apartment.
"There could be substantial damage," said Humphreys.
According to Humphreys, there were no injuries. A resident of the building said that residents were informed that if they needed a place to stay due to damage that a shelter was being put into place in North Logan at a local church.
"I just don't want it to spread," said Shawna Olsen, a resident. "I hate the thought of anything … everyone losing everything. Or anyone losing anything."
Logan Fire Department said that an investigation will be conducted in the morning.
