SUNSET — A motorcyclist is in the hospital after crashing into a car on I-15 near 2300 N. in Sunset on Sunday evening, officials said.

Utah Highway Patrol Corporal Michael Gordon said the motorcyclist was going northbound at a high rate of speed and lost control. The motorcycle struck the rear of a passenger vehicle.

The motorcyclist was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital. Gordon did not know their condition, but the driver was conscious and breathing when transported.

Officials are investigating the accident as a possible DUI, according to Gordon.

Northbound lanes of I-15 were temporarily closed for 20 minutes, according to officials. All lanes are now open and "traffic flow is returning to normal," according to UDOT Traffic.

Additional details about the driver of the passenger vehicle's condition or any passengers was not available.
