SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz will be welcoming even more fans into Vivint Arena soon.

Beginning with Tuesday's game against the Detroit Pistons (a game that is in danger of not being played after the Pistons' game on Monday was canceled due to COVID-19 contact tracing), the Jazz will open the upper bowl to fans in "socially distanced pod seating."

The capacity will increase from 1,500 fans (plus suites) to 3,902 per game.

Teams across the league have adjusted their attendance policies as the season has gone on and the Jazz are now one of nine teams that are allowing fans.

Utah will have the second-largest capacity among that group. The Orlando Magic allow roughly 4,000 fans into Amway Center.

After the Jazz's first game with fans this season, Utah guard Mike Conley called it a "breath of fresh air" to hear cheers in the arena again.

All health and safety precautions will remain the same at Vivint Arena. Masks are required to be worn while not actively eating or drinking, and groups are asked to maintain a 6-foot distance between each other.

The pandemic numbers in the state have been dropping with the Utah Department of Health reporting 584 cases on Monday — the first time the state has reported under 600 cases since Sept. 14. The state's hospitalization numbers were also the lowest they've been since Nov. 4.
