WOODS CROSS — A 48-year-old woman was transported by medical helicopter after her arm was severed when it became caught in wood stacking machinery, police said Thursday.
Around 1:10 p.m., police, fire and medical personnel responded to a 911 call asking for help at 1959 S. 1100 W., Woods Cross Police Assistant Chief Adam Osoro said. The woman's arm was severed by the machine, officials said. Crews treated the woman for a right arm, above-elbow amputation.
After being treated at the scene, the woman was flown to a hospital in critical but stable condition, according to police.
Osoro said it appeared the woman's clothing became tangled in the wood stacking machinery.
Police have since cleared the scene. Further information, including the identity of the woman, was not released.
