WEST VALLEY CITY — A man was killed after his car was hit by an SUV on 1600 W. 4100 South just east of Redwood Road, according to West Valley City police.

According to West Valley City Police Lt. Bill Merritt, around 9 p.m. on Wednesday the passenger car was westbound on 4100 South when it jumped the center median and landed in eastbound traffic. An eastbound SUV struck the car, and the driver of the car was killed, Merritt said.

Police said that the driver's injuries were significant and he was partially ejected from the car. Officials said as far as they can tell, the driver was not wearing a seat belt.

Accident investigators were investigating the scene Wednesday night, according to Merritt.

The deceased man is thought to be in his late 30s to early 40s. Further information, including the identity of the driver, was not released.
