RIVERDALE — A third person who police say was involved in a fatal Christmas Day shooting in Riverdale has been arrested.
Liam Gale, 31, was arrested about 12:20 a.m. Monday in connection with the shooting, Riverdale police said in a Monday news release. Brittany Rogers, 31, and Jimmy Bennett, 16, were previously arrested later on Christmas Day. All three have been charged with murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, and obstructing justice, all first-degree felonies, in 2nd District Court in Ogden.
Trevor Anthony Martin, 36, was killed in the shooting, which also left Martin's girlfriend, a 42-year-old woman, critically injured, police said. The shooting took place about 3:20 a.m. on Christmas Day near 5100 S. 1050 West in Riverdale, according to charges.
Gale, Rogers and Bennett went to a residence at that address to commit a robbery, according to charges. Gale and Bennett forced their way into the residence and then shot the two victims during a confrontation, charges state.
Police located Gale on Monday at an apartment complex in West Haven, according to the news release. Police called him on the phone and convinced him to come out of an apartment, and he surrendered to police without any further incident, the release said.
Gale later confessed to police that he shot the two victims, according to the release. He was booked into the Weber County Jail.
"While we are relieved to have the three suspects in custody, we are still saddened by this senseless act that took the life of Trevor Martin and critically injured his girlfriend," Riverdale police said in the release. "Our hearts are with the family members of these victims and we hope they can find peace and comfort at this difficult time."
