KNOLLS, Tooele County — Utah Highway Patrol officials confirmed Sunday that one person is dead after a crash on I-80.
Trooper Mikki Vargas said a Toyota pickup truck rolled over on westbound I-80 about 20 miles east of Knolls. The truck drifted off the left side of the road into the median, then overcorrected to the right, then left. It rotated back into the median and began to roll, according to a statement from the Department of Public Safety. Officials don't know what initially caused the driver to drift off the road.
"The vehicle came to rest in lane 2 on the westbound side and caught fire," read the statement. " All traffic was blocked."
The driver was ejected from the truck and died at the scene, they were the only occupant in the vehicle. Officials suspect the diver was not wearing a seatbelt.
