OREM (AP) — Le'Tre Darthard and Jamison Overton scored 16 points apiece as Utah Valley got past Division II Westminster 79-71 on Wednesday night.
Blaze Nield added 13 points, Fardaws Aimaq scored 12 and Trey Woodbury had 11 for the Wolverines (2-1). Nield also had six assists, while Aimaq posted 18 rebounds and three assists.
Joey Andrews had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Griffins. Taylor Miller added 15 points. Jarrett Jordan had 11 points.
Darthard shot 5 of 8 from the field, including a 3 of 5 mark from long range for his 16 points. Nield had 13 points with a team-high six assists.
Utah Valley connected on 45 percent of its shots on the night, while limiting Westminster to a 41 percent mark.
Utah Valley will continue play at home next Wednesday, Dec. 9 against in-state rival Southern Utah. The game, which will tip off at 6 p.m. MT, will be broadcast live on the WAC Digital Network and ESPN 960 AM radio.
