WEST VALLEY CITY — Two people suffered critical injuries in a three-car crash Tuesday morning, police said.

The crash took place about 9 a.m. at the intersection of 2700 West and Parkway Boulevard, according to West Valley City Police Lt. Amy Maurer.

Three vehicles, including a box truck, were involved in the crash, Maurer said. The driver and passenger from the box truck were ejected and suffered critical injuries, she added.

As of Tuesday afternoon, both were still in critical condition, Maurer said. The other people involved remained at the scene and were cooperating with police, she said.

None of the people involved in the crash were identified.

One of the cars involved in the crash ran a red light, but police were not sure which car did so, Maurer said. Authorities were waiting to obtain some traffic camera video footage to determine which car ran the red light.

Northbound and southbound lanes were temporarily blocked near the crash, but the scene has since been cleared. Further information about the incident was not available.
