SALT LAKE CITY — A man was transported to the hospital in critical condition after his car rolled over and almost landed in the Jordan River on Saturday evening.
Salt Lake City Police Lt. Steve Wooldridge said Gold Cross ambulance crews witnessed the crash near 1200 West N. Temple around 6:50 p.m. The vehicle rolled into a fence on the embankment above the east side of the river.
Wooldridge said ambulance and Salt Lake fire crews helped get the man out of the vehicle. He was the only occupant.
"The front end of the vehicle is pretty smashed up," said Wooldridge. "It rolled into a fence and was suspended kind of on the fence on the embankment above the river."
At some point during the incident, the vehicle also caught on fire but there is no information on any injuries specifically related to the fire.
