THE CLASSROOM — Everyone complains when Christmas decorations start popping up in stores "too early," but no one says a word when that happens with Halloween.
Halloween lovers somehow get a special pass even though the two holidays both involve over-the-top decor, mythical creatures (such as elves), and crates of candy — think about it.
No matter which holiday you favor over the other, it can be hard when your favorite time of year ends. Down comes the décor, off comes the seasonal clothing, and away goes your favorite candy on grocery store shelves.
Things feel a little emptier, a little sadder.
This may be because taking down and putting away your favorite holiday decor takes a while — it's a long goodbye. But I propose that we start ending each holiday with a single, celebratory bang to give it a loving sendoff, just like the teacher in the featured clip.
In the video, there is an ordinary-looking pumpkin on this teacher's work bench. But with a quick flick of the wrist, the pumpkin explodes in a specific Halloween-y way. It's a fun surprise (that I won't spoil) and worth watching every replay in the video.
After you're done with your first viewing, go back and watch the teacher's face. It's the face of someone who loves being a science teacher, and maybe it's even the face of someone who loves exploding things just a little too much.
As must always be said, because the human race is what it is, please do not try this at home. This stunt was done by a professional in a controlled environment. May your holidays always be be safe and bright.
