THE DISCOUNT SHOE AISLE — I think as we grow up, a lot of us romanticize the way we will share big news or announce substantial life events. Like a proposal, for example.

I had romanticized my proposal for a long time. I had one brother propose to his bride on the Eiffel Tower and another at sunset on a private sailboat near Catalina Island.

But what did I do? I hid in my wife's broom closet and popped out.

There is also that moment when you find out you're having a child. People get really creative and surprise their spouse with the amazing news.

By the time we had our third child my wife sprung the news on me by handing me the pregnancy test when she picked me up from the airport following a work trip. She looked me in the eyes and lovingly said, "I'm so sick. This is my third time. Make me go through it a fourth and I'll leave you."

I guess what I'm saying is even though the way we spring big news or ask important questions may differ in creativity and effort, but the result is almost always the same: excitement and love. That's exactly what happens in this video that I adore.

A wife approaches her husband in a store, hands him a pair of baby shoes, and asks what he thinks of these. He's confused and then she lets him know the shoes will be for the new baby that's on the way.

The husband is in disbelief and keeps asking if she's serious — which she is. He then delivers my favorite line of 2020.

"You wanted to tell me at Nordstrom Rack?!"

That will put a smile on my face. Because what better place to share this news than the place where you can get designer brands at discount prices? Nordstrom Rack should be the new default place to announce you're having a baby.

So everyone be warned, when your significant other asks you to run to Nordstrom Rack with them, you might be headed to something life-changing.
