SCARY NATURE — I'd like to start this with a warning. This video is intense and shows violence between two animals. Please be warned.
We live in a beautiful world that offers stunning views and awe-inspiring vistas. No matter where you live it often only takes a walk, bike ride, or short drive to find yourself immersed in nature.
I live at the mouth of one of our beautiful canyons so that experience is steps from my door. But I don't take advantage as often as I should. I'm not proud of that fact, but I let life get in the way. Work, kids, homework, Netflix. You get the point. But sometimes, I get over my laziness and my excuses and get geared up to enjoy the world's natural beauty. Then I see a video like this and cower back in my home under blankets hoping that scary nature won't find me.
This may not be a Halloween video, but it's the scariest thing I've seen this October. This video was captured in the Angeles National Forest and it is legitimately intense.
A bobcat strolls into the camera's view and it soon starts batting at something off camera. Not long after that we find out it's a rattlesnake. The bobcat is hoping for a meal, and the snake is hoping to make it out of this situation so he's alive to find his next meal.
The battle between the two will get your heart pumping. When the video was finally over I realized my shoulders were up by my ears, my eyebrows were furrowed, my lips were in a tight grimace and hands were into balled into fists. It really is an incredibly intense video.
I'll need the memory of this video to slip back into the dark corners of my mind before I'm going to feel ready to hit the trails again, because nature is scary. Someday I'll learn that this is just about the natural world around us, but I think I'll do my best to steer clear of any cat/snake fights for right now.
