Vincent Howard Beazel, 60, was a resident of Stansbury Park. He died as a result of a gunshot wound, officials said.

Beazel's body was found on the west edge of the fire by crews on Sunday about 12:35 p.m., authorities said Monday.

As of Monday, authorities were still investigating how the body and the fire were connected.

The body was sent to the state medical examiner's office and identified on Thursday, the sheriff's office said.

The fire forced evacuations in the canyon and a white late '90s Honda Accord was abandoned near the scene.

Deputies are asking anyone with information on the case to call detectives at 435-277-4212 or 435-277-4254.
