SALT LAKE CITY — Money is tight this year, so high school sports fundraising is a must.
Students at Skyline High School are doing it a little differently – and in a way that's sure to make you smile.
The swim team usually relies on ticket sales from the football team for funding. With the COVID-19 pandemic, though, fewer people are allowed to attend those games.
Now the team has to find a way to fill that deficit.
They decided to do it by paying it forward with random acts of kindness.
"They decided to do 20 good deeds in 20 days in 2020," said head coach Joe Pereira. "It's not something where they're going to go out and sell something. (It's) something where you're going to do a good deed for somebody, no expectation of getting anything back."
"They're just trying to do 20 of them in 20 days," he added.
Each member of the team has been challenged to do 20 good deeds while not expecting anything in return
"We decided to do random acts of kindness because the world's kind of tough right now," said student Michael Mecham." We're just trying to create a little bit of kindness."
If you want to help out, you can pledge to sponsor a swimmer and donate based off the number of good deeds they do for the community.
The team is also accepting donations.
