TAYLORSVILLE — A woman suffered critical injuries in a single-vehicle crash Monday night, Utah Highway Patrol officials said.
Just after 10 p.m. Monday, the driver crashed into a wall on eastbound I-215 at about 1400 West, according to UHP Lt. Nick Street.
The woman driving the car had drifted over to the left shoulder of the freeway and hit the concrete barrier, Street said Tuesday. The vehicle then bounced off the wall and came to a stop in the middle of traffic lanes, he said.
The woman was not responsive after the crash and was taken to a hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries, Street added. However, she was awake and responding when troopers made a follow-up visit to the hospital, he said. She was not identified.
Some open containers of alcohol were found inside the vehicle, and impairment is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash, Street said.
The crash closed two lanes of traffic Monday night but by Tuesday morning the scene had been cleared.
