TORREY, Wayne County — A motorcyclist died on Tuesday afternoon after debris in the road caused him to lose control of his bike near Torrey in Wayne County.
The rider was traveling in a "large group" of motorcycle riders on state Route 24 about 3:12 p.m. when the accident occurred, according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The front two riders slowed down because of tire debris in the road.
That caused the driver to also slow down and to leave his lane, veering into the northbound lanes. "During the braking skid of the motorcycle," the UHP wrote, he lost control of his Harley-Davidson and was struck by a northbound car.
He was killed on impact. Officials will release the man's name on Wednesday, they said.
