FARMINGTON — A 31-year-old man is dead after a side-by-side off-roading vehicle crashed outside the Farmington Canyon entrance, authorities confirmed.
Davis County Sheriff's officials say the man and another 40-year-old rider rolled their vehicle just a half a mile outside the canyon entrance at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Due to the location of the crash search and rescue crews were called in to assist in recovering the passengers.
The driver was ejected from the UTV and suffered injuries, officials said.
He was able to call for help and gave authorities details about his location, including a football-sized rock placed below the crash site.
The county’s search and rescue team were able to find the driver and also found the second rider, who had died from his injuried. His name was not released.
The 40-year-old driver was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
