TAYLORSVILLE — A man accused of shooting at a car with a 19-year-old man and his 16-year-old sister inside has been arrested.

Placido Reyes Jr., 40, of Taylorsville, was arrested Monday for investigation of shooting at a vehicle and two counts of aggravated assault.

The incident happened on July 19. A 19-year-old man went to Reyes’ home on that day to gather some belongings after apparently having a falling out with Reyes’ son, according to a police affidavit.

The 19-year-old sat in his car with his sister and began honking his horn, the affidavit states.

“(Reyes) became angered at the victim’s presence and walked into the public street outside the residence with a firearm in his hand. The 19-year-old victim saw (Reyes) raise the firearm and shoot at the victim and his sister while they were in the vehicle. The victim heard bullets hitting his vehicle,” according to the affidavit.

The 19-year-old then drove away. Unified police examined the vehicle, which “was found to have damage consistent with being shot by a firearm, with at least three areas of impact. One of the bullets appeared to strike right in the middle of the two victims, striking the seat in between them,” the affidavit states.
