TAYLORSVILLE — A man died Tuesday morning after his car and a UTA bus collided near 1175 W. 4570 South, police confirmed.

The 53-year-old man was trapped in a white Buick following the crash, which happened about 11:45 a.m., Unified police detective Kevin Mallory said.

The man was extricated from the car and later died on scene. He was identified Wednesday as Raymond Anderson, Unified police said in a tweet.

The few passengers on the bus were uninjured, Mallory said.

Westbound lanes on 4570 South, also known as Taylorsville Expressway, were closed about 1 p.m. and traffic was diverted to Atherton Drive, according to the Utah Department of Transportation. Lanes reopened later Tuesday evening.

Further details about the crash were not immediately available.

Editor's Note: Police initially reported the man's first name as Raymon, but later corrected the spelling. This story has been updated with the corrected spelling.
