MOAB — Power was restored about 9:10 p.m. to 7,000 Rocky Mountain Power customers who were without power on Monday for several hours, officials said.
The outage also closed both directions of U.S. 191 south of the Colorado River Bridge just before 5 p.m., the Utah Department of Transportation reported. By 5:40 p.m., one lane had reopened for alternating traffic and by 6 p.m., both lanes had reopened.
The outage, which was caused by a damaged line, was first reported about 3:40 p.m. Further information about what caused the damage wasn't released.
Temperatures in Moab were above 100 degrees on Monday, according to KSL Weather.
Another damaged line also caused a power outage in Richfield on Monday afternoon that left 4,329 customers without power about 4:15 p.m. Power was restored to the area later Monday evening.
Richfield was under a heat advisory until 9 p.m., with temperatures expected between 100 and 108 degrees.
