PROVO — Police are investigating after they say the driver of an SUV shot at the security booth outside the Missionary Training Center in Provo early Monday.

No injuries were reported, according to a statement from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The incident happened at about 2:28 a.m. at the main security booth on 2005 N. 900 East, according to a tweet from the Provo Police Department.

The driver of a white SUV fired multiple rounds, police said.

"We are grateful that the shooting this morning at the Provo Missionary Training Center did not result in physical injury," church spokesman Eric Hawkins said in a statement.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there are currently no missionaries at the training center.

Further details about the shooting were not immediately available. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Provo police investigators at 801-852-7315 or email rcampbell@provo.org.
