NEPHI — The Utah Highway Patrol has confirmed a body found off the side of I-15 on Monday is a man.

But investigators were still trying to determine Tuesday his identity and what happened to him.

About 3 a.m. Monday, the Juab County Sheriff's Office received a report of a pedestrian running in and out of traffic near Nephi on I-15, UHP Lt. Nick Street said. Troopers went to check out the area but could not find anything.

Then at about 3 p.m., police received another call of someone possibly lying behind a guardrail in about the same area that troopers were called to before, Street said. Troopers went back to the area and found a body behind the guardrail.

Investigators were looking Tuesday for information from people who were in the area at that time, including motorists who may have hit something and not realized it was a person.
