(KSL News) -- The start of a school year also means the start of a literacy project for students and their tutors.
Salt Lake County launches a program next week to help kids get extra help on the most important skill they can learn -- reading.
They match kids with volunteer tutors, and coordinators say the relationship benefits both.
Tamara Wharton, Volunteer Coordinator: "One time a tutor couldn't come and the child cried. So the relationship means a great deal to these kids."
