(KSL News) Recent protests against The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have Draper officials mulling over a "free speech zone."
A proposed ordinance will place zones near a new LDS temple when it's opened in January. City officials say the restrictions will keep the protesters from interfering with temple-goers and nearby residents.
Those zones could be set up for any city event. If the ordinance passes, violators may face misdemeanor citations.
The Draper LDS temple begins an eight-week open house in January and will be dedicated in March.
