The new $300 million content control campaign is being undertaken by the Ad Council and broad coalition of broadcasting interests.
Television is a terrific tool for information and entertainment. But sometimes, indeed, quite often these days, the program content can be offensive and inappropriate for certain viewers, especially the young. So short of some form of national censorship, or abandoning television altogether, parents are being encouraged to learn about the tools already available to them for controlling what their children view.
At TheTVBoss.org parents can learn about the television ratings system and how to use the V-Chip that is now available in most TV's, along with various cable and satellite controls designed to prevent unwanted programming from coming into their homes.
As often is the case with effective parenting, involvement is a key to success, and that always takes effort. KSL encourages parents to take the time to check out TheTVBoss.org. It's no panacea, but, in KSL's view, it can be an effective tool for helping parents gain more control over their televisions.
