SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Governor Jon Huntsman is in Washington today to testify in support of Utah getting a fourth seat in the House of Representatives.

The bill also would create the first seat for the District of Columbia, which has 600-thousand residents but no vote in Congress.

Utah just missed getting another seat after the 2000 Census.

The House Judiciary Constitution Subcommittee will hear testimony on the matter today.

The subcommittee must approve the measure before it gets a full vote in the House.

The new seat would be an at-large seat representing the entire state until the 2010 Census. After that, the seat would represent a newly outlined district in the state.
